Rashida Jones Defies the Minimalist Loafer Trend With Embellished Jimmy Choo Loafers and Socks in New York

Rashida Jones stopped by “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle” on Tuesday wearing a preppy outfit, which she completed with Jimmy Choo shoes. While the actress subscribed to the seemingly no-pants and the office-ready fashion trends, she forewent the minimalist loafer trend, opting for an embellished pair instead.

The “Parks and Recreation” alum opted for the Jimmy Choo Eliot Slipper 45. The loafer style is crafted with black napa leather with metallic eyelets, and a short black heel. The shoes, which retail for $1,395, are a modern take on the classic smoking slipper, the Eliot Slipper, a smooth black vintage leather silhouette that retails for $795.

Jones’ pair came punctuated with approximately 320 polished silver eyelets. The loafers are set on a 45mm block heel, and they feature a squared toe, notched vamp and smooth leather lining with soft padding that naturally molds to the foot, creating a pillowy fit. A JC button is featured on the back, giving a subtle brand nod.

The actress’ shoes go against the current trend of flat, minimalist leather loafers. Stars like Kendall Jenner, Zoe Kravitz and Hailey Bieber have been spotted wearing sleek styles by brands like The Row, Khaite and Saint Laurent. The “Silo” star accessorized her shoe-choice look with crisp white, ankle-length socks, which also peeked through the eyelets.

Jones could have taken inspiration from her late father Quincy Jones’s longtime collaborator, Michael Jackson, who was a major fan of the loafer and sock combo. She paired the shoes with a navy blue blazer, a blue button-down with a white collar, and olive green shorts that were obscured by the top layers.

Jones and her creative partner Will McCormack joined “Today With Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones” to chat about their new A24 movie “The Invite.” The pair wrote the screenplay for the movie, which stars Seth Rogen and Olivia Wilde as a couple who invite their free-spirited neighbors to dinner that turns into a nightmare.

The actress and McCormack shared how their writing partnership started with a date, revealed how a volcanic eruption tested their friendship and discussed their process behind the film. The movie is set for a June 26 release.
