Crocs’ Newest Shoe Is Designed to Feel Like a Sneaker With All-day Comfort — but It’s Not Totally New
Crocs’ clogs and sandal-adjacent shoes are typically not the sort of footwear you expect to see an abundance of once summer fades away, but the Colorado-based company has a new limited-edition model on the way that’s designed to adapt to cooler temperatures.
The all-new Crocs Tembo II RO, set for an official release in September, is the latest offering from the brand’s experimental EXP line. It will debut in Elephant/Carbon and Orange Zing/Black colorways.
According to Crocs, the Tembo II RO is built for everyday exploration and features a slimmer silhouette designed to mimic a sneaker more so than the brand’s rounder, more obtuse foam designs. Shape aside, the standout elements of the Tembo II RO lie in its customizable build, soft foam material and rugged Vibram rubber outsole.
The Tembo II RO comes equipped with a Polartec fleece liner intended to keep the feet warm and toasty as temperatures begin to drop. And when things heat up, the liner can be removed for a more traditional ventilated Crocs feel. The Polartec liner is paired with a nylon lock ladder to keep it firmly in place, so you won’t have to worry about things shifting around with repeated usage.

The upper of the Tembo II RO is constructed with fully molded Croslite, the brand’s signature foam compound. Underfoot, a Vibram rubber outsole with an aggressive traction pattern promises long-lasting grip.

While the Tembo II RO may appear novel, it’s actually a continuation of a concept introduced by Crocs in 2010. The brand’s original Tembo shoe also featured a fleece liner which included a nylon ripstop collar and a different fastening system. For the Tembo II RO, Crocs simplified the liner configuration and beefed up the outsole, adding Vibram rubber for longer lasting durability.
The Crocs Tembo II RO was released early from Boston retailer Concepts on Thursday, where it quickly sold out. The model will see a second wider launch on Sept. 3 from crocs.com and select retailers. Retail pricing for the new model is $100.
