Anne Hathaway Swaps Press Tour Pumps for Sky-high Aquazzura Platform Sandals at the Breakthrough Prize
Anne Hathaway swapped her recent run of sleeker press tour pumps for a heavier, higher evening sandal on Saturday, stepping out in Aquazzura’s Aimée Sandal Plateau 130 for the 12th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Saturday night.

Hathaway’s pair came in black with a thick front platform, a tall 130 mm block heel and a narrow ankle strap that cut diagonally across the foot before fastening high at the side. At the toe, several slim bands fanned out from a wider front strap, giving the sandal a more sliced, sunray-like shape than a standard platform sandal.

The heel read substantial from the side, but the upper stayed spare and open, which kept the line lighter under her gown. In the closer images, the platform looked squared-off and fairly deep, with the block heel landing straight and clean rather than flared. The proportions put the style inside Aquazzura’s broader high-platform evening lane, where the brand has been pushing 130 mm and 140 mm sandals with more lift but relatively pared-back uppers.

The platform style is a shift from the sleeker pumps she’s been wearing while promoting “Mother Mary” and “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” Earlier this year, she wore white Valentino Rockstud pumps in Tokyo, black Roger Vivier satin evening sandals at the 2026 Oscars, Christian Louboutin’s Miss Z pumps during the “Mother Mary” premiere in New York and, later that same night, Versace platforms.

On Friday, she changed course again in zebra print Adidas Tokyo sneakers while promoting “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in New York. Against that sequence, the Aquazzura pair sat in a useful middle ground: higher and heavier than the pumps, cleaner and less decorative than the Roger Vivier sandals, and more pared back than the Versace platform look.
