Israel strikes Hezbollah targets in Beirut

Israel has again struck positions of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia in Beirut, the military said early on Thursday.

The targets were infrastructure used by the militant group, the Israeli Air Force said on social media platform X.

Earlier, the military said it had identified a building in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital as a base of the Shiite militia and announced an impending strike. A military spokesman called on residents to move to safety.

Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israel early on Monday in response to the killing of Iran’s supreme leader ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, Israel’s military has resumed heavy strikes on targets in several parts of Lebanon.

The Israeli military said late on Wednesday it struck numerous Hezbollah rocket and missile launch sites and a drone production factory in the south of the country near the Israeli border. The military’s claims could not initially be independently verified.
