L’Équipe journalist temporarily steps aside amid Jérémy Doku controversy
L’Équipe have announced that France Pierron, at the heart of the Jérémy Doku controversy, will step aside from her role presenting the L’Équipe de Choc show until the end of the season.
Pierron described Doku’s decision to leave Belgium’s FIFA World Cup camp to return to England to be with his wife, Shireen, for the birth of their first child, Praise, as “disgusting”.

Pierron said: “You’re living out a childhood dream, yet you’re going to walk away from it all to attend the birth of your child – a disgusting moment, if you’ll pardon the expression, where the dad is completely useless. He just holds your hand and takes a photo.”
Doku left for the birth of the child, which took place on Monday, before returning to the Belgium set-up.
L’Équipe initially distanced themselves from Pierron’s on-air comments, whilst also denouncing the harassment to which the journalist was subjected online. Pierron, it was announced, would not present L’Équipe du Choc between now and the end of the season, which comes on 3rd July. However, Le Parisien understands that, whilst there will be an HR meeting between the journalist and her employers at the end of the month, her future at L’Équipe is not under threat.
