Tolu Coker Taps Naomi Campbell for Spring 2026 Showcase and Film

CALLING CAMPBELL: Tolu Coker broke away from the traditional runway format for her spring 2026 collection, staging a presentation that fused fashion, film and storytelling — with Naomi Campbell at the center.

Instead of a catwalk, the designer hosted a presentation where she unveiled select looks alongside the premiere of her 15-minute film “Unfinished Business,” which she codirected with her brother, Ade Coker.

Featuring Naomi Campbell, the short film touches on themes of motherhood, legacy and Black womanhood in fashion, offering a rare glimpse into the model’s personal evolution.

“Everyone sees and knows Naomi as this really strong, powerful supermodel, but beyond that she’s a mother to so many people, and now she’s in this transition where she’s a mother to her children as well,” Coker said. “I really just wanted to present Naomi, the human being.”

The film projects Coker’s vision of fashion as heirloom, clothing designed to outlive its owners and be passed down to new generations. This philosophy underscores her approach to design, which prioritizes intimacy and practicality.

“I was thinking about the connection we have to our clothing, particularly as a woman designing for women, and the way our wardrobes evolve as we evolve as people,” she said. “Like the two-way zip, or the idea of corsetry that’s comfortable without the boning, these are pieces that honor the way the body evolves and changes.”

Key looks that reflected this balance of structure and fluidity ranged from a collared corset-style dress with a double zip and flared skirt to sharply tailored separates, bomber-style jackets and wide-leg suit trousers.
